Check out the list of free activities in the city this school holidays
Take a walk along Newcastle's wonderful waterways with the kids and hear from experts about the history of native wetlands and wildlife with free guided tours from environmental experts.
From Saturday, the City of Newcastle is offering free activities for families, including a guided walking tour along the beautiful Bathers Way. The Coastal Nature Trail will offer the chance to interact with wildlife, learn about endangered grasslands growing along the coastal fringe and hear stories of traditional Aboriginal culture. The iconic walk offers no better view of our city and beaches, so be sure to take in the wonderful backdrops before you.
If learning about life at sea level is more to your liking, then Life at Low Tide is for you. Naturalist Jeannie Lawson will take people along a tour of Newcastle's rock pools in search of intertidal lifeforms living beneath our rocky shoreline. The session begins at 3pm on Monday, 21 January.
Be sure to wear suitable hard-soled footwear and clothing appropriate for this setting.
From our serene coastlines to our wonderful wetlands, the last activity on the list of summer fun is a guided bus tour around Hexham Swamp. The expedition starts at 9:30am on Saturday 2 February.
Registration for all activities is essential, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information email Angus Weingott on firstname.lastname@example.org.
